Vibrant Gujarat 2015
In order to learn from the disaster management initiatives taken up by the State Government post 26th January 2001 earthquake, several delegations from other countries have visited the State:
Delegation from Government of People’s Republic of Bangladesh visited Gujarat in November 2004 and July 2012 to learn from the R & R programme and apply it in future policy making issues in Bangladesh.
A high level delegation of the Government of Afghanistan consisting of 8 officials from the Department of Disaster Preparedness, Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation Development, Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Agriculture visited GSDMA on 20th March, 2004 to get acquainted with the Gujarat Government's pioneering efforts in handling the 2001 earthquake and measures for long-term disaster management
Immediately after the Asian Tsunami, TAFREN, Sri Lanka’s Task Force for Rebuilding the Nation visited Gujarat to gain a firsthand insights of the reconstruction and recovery programme
Delegation from the Royal Government of Bhutan visited GSDMA in 2004
Delegation from East Timor visited GSDMA in September 2005
A nine member delegation from Iran visited Gujarat from 13th to 16th September 2005 to see the post earthquake rehabilitation and reconstruction programme being implemented in the earthquake affected areas of the State
Post Pakistan Earthquake, Joint CEO, GSDMA had made a presentation through video conference to the ERRA in Pakistan on Gujarat Earthquake reconstruction and rehabilitation program
In addition, other States of India have also benefited from our experience as shown below:
Post Tsunami, GSDMA provided copies of its DM Act, earthquake reconstruction policy and housing rehabilitation packages to the Governments of Tamilnadu, Andamans and Pondicherry
Delegations of Government of Nagaland, West Bengal, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh and Assam visited to study earthquake reconstruction
Delegation of Government of Jammu and Kashmir visited to study earthquake reconstruction post Kashmir- Pakistan earthquake
Masons trained and certified through the mason’s certification program of GSDMA have actively worked in rebuilding the new shelters of the victims of both Kashmir Earthquake in India and as well as for the victims of Tsunami in Andaman and Nicobar Islands
GSDMA was invited by Government of Assam to make presentations on various aspects of disaster management so that they can evolve a similar programme based on the learning from the Gujarat experience
